Adam Sumera, PhD is a retired senior lecturer in British Literature (University of Lodz, Poland). He is also a translator from English and German; the books he has translated into Polish include two books on haemophilia: Nora Schwetz and Pam Johnson’s How to Control Bleeds and Irish Haemophilia Society’s Ageing & Haemophilia.

He has been Vice-President of the Polish Haemophilia Society (PHS) since 2007. He is also head of the PHS regional chapter in Lodz.

In 1998 he created the PHS’s newsletter, Biuletyn Informacyjny, and he has been its editor since that time. The newsletter is published from two to four times a year.

He has severe haemophilia A.
